In the last Foundertest, you had the chance to try out our game Cactusclicker. The development of CC has been going on for over a year now and with such a big mode it is important that we keep adding new features and developing it further. Even though many features are ready for release, we will be adding new features to the Cactus Factory until the release from the network.
One of these features is the talent system, which was already hinted at in the Foundertest. Through talents, you will be able to get powerful improvements for your cacti, souls, and research time. The best part – the skills are permanent improvements for the entire season, which you won’t lose in case of a reset.
The great talent system
So far, Cactusclicker has only had a very basic system of permanent powerups, and we realized through playtesting that we could get a lot more out of the mode with a talent system. The goal was clear – we want to create a long-term motivation where minutes, hours or even days invested by you make a noticeable difference. After each reset, you should feel more efficient and realize that the time you invested in your cactus factory was worth it.
That’s why we are working on large talent trees that will support your individual play style. In our 3 talent trees, you will have access to over 45 unique talents when the network is released.
You want to continue to climb the ladders in our other games and prefer to farm the cacti passively? There are extra talents to improve your passive income. 1st place in the soul rankings is your ultimate goal? Then you should invest your talent points in soul upgrades. Through the talent trees, you can use your very own tactics that suit you and keep improving your farm.
We are aware that such a big change in Cactusclicker will have a big impact on the meta of the first season and there is a risk that after some time one skill will probably turn out to be the strongest. Due to the seasonal system, the game state in Cactusclicker will be completely reset on a regular basis, which gives us the opportunity to steer the playstyles and the meta in a different direction every season.
So much for the theory for now, but you’re certainly eager to see the talent trees in practice. That said, we don’t want to get too much ahead of ourselves. Be sure, though, that we want to support many different playstyles of Cactusclicker.
How’s the build event going?
Since our announcement, a lot has happened on the build server and many of you have already secured a plot. We are very happy that the build team was completely convinced by 2 plots and we can welcome 2 more builders to our team.
Also, there have already been several plots that have been really great, so some of you have already moved up a rank and are a bit closer to joining the build team. If you also think you have what it takes to be a Legend Builder and are no stranger to WorldEdit and VoxelSniper, you can still prove yourself on our build event server at event.playlegend.net!
If you want to get more information about the build event, you can also have a look at our news, where we announced the event. You can find the link here.
These two plots won over our team of builders!
Conclusion
We hope you’re as excited about the talent trees as we are, and while we’re still putting the finishing touches on our network, maybe stop by our build event.
Last week we wrote about Legend’s already 8-year-long history, and if you haven’t read that blog post yet, we encourage you to check it out here.
We’ve had a lot of messages regarding the update to 1.19.2, with concerns that the new Microsoft / Mojang reporting system could be abused to ban top players or similar. We would like to reassure you at this point and announce that our network does not use this system and thus the interface and it will not be possible to report players to Microsoft / Mojang via our network.
In the next blog post on September 4th, 6:00 p.m., we would like to explain why we decided against it.
