Where do I get maps?

PlayLegend offers an infinite variety of maps to play. If you own the founderpack, you will also have exclusive maps to add to your map pool. If you don’t have a Founderpack yet, you can buy it HERE.

You can unlock maps through prestige from merchants.

Furthermore there is the possibility to buy maps through crystals. If you read the last blogpost, you know that there will also be some special content creator maps.

After the official release of the network, there will be some special packs in the store, for example the Superhero Pack, which also contains new maps.

The most important thing here is: you do NOT have to buy a map to play it. More about this in the further course!

You can compose your own mappool in many game modes!

How do I compose a mappool?

Every player has the possibility to create mappools. This only works in game modes where the map selection is not determined by the system.

The Dropper, for example, has its own system for map selection – the maps are actively predefined there.

In Bedwars, Skywars and Hide&Seek you can create your own map pool. If a gamemode has different group sizes (Solo, Duo, Squad), an individual mappool can be created for each group size. To set this, simply go to your compass, press the shift key when selecting the game mode and then (or after selecting the squad size) you will find yourself in your mappool. You add or deselect the maps with one click and you will get a feedback in the chat.

At the beginning, the mappool will have a certain size. To clarify the whole process, let’s go through an example with the Bedwars mode:

You are a passionate Bedwars player. At the beginning, you can create a mappool of four maps. Since you are very active on PlayLegend, you earn prestige and coins in Bedwars. The dealer will then be willing to sell you another slot for the mappool – increasing your mappool to a total of five maps.

It will also be possible to increase your mappool for real money. A mappool of eight different maps sounds great, huh?

How many slots will there be at the beginning? And by how much the mappool can be expanded? You will find it out at release date!

Choose the gamemode, choose your maps – and it’s done!

How does the system choose a map to play?

You are in a lobby with your opponents and the map is selected. The system behind it is simple, but absolutely brilliant:

After you have selected your map pool in Bedwars (four maps), you go into the solo queue with seven other players.

Once the system has selected all players and registered a full round, the map selection begins.

The system randomly picks one of the eight players and tracks which maps are in that person’s mappol. It is compared with the seven other players in the round. If there are matches to the four maps of the tracked person, these are added.

Example: You have the “Zandarenmap” (Founderpack) in the mappool and you are randomly tracked by the system. Five of your seven opponents also have this map in their pool. The “Zandarenmap” then gets a total of six tickets – one from you and five from the other players. This principle is applied to all four maps and the tickets are put into a pot. From this pot, the system draws one ticket – and this map will be played.

So it does not matter if you own a map or not. In general, you can play any map that exists – that is how the variation comes into play!

Currently there is also a force item in planning, which allows you to play a certain map to 100%. This can either be unlocked and bought with coins, or purchased with crystals (real money). If you use this item, you will be put into a round where no one but you has used a force item – and play your chosen map.

What do you think of the system behind map selection?

Do you have any questions about the technology or the different mapping tools?

By the way:

Next Sunday there will be another creator presentation! This time it is a Creator who has been on youtube since September 2019 and has about 2000 subscribers. In addition, his life is very important to him…who could that be?
