How does Borderbattle work?
Four mates, four teams – one goal: win the entire kingdom for yourself.
In Borderbattle, you and three friends fight against three other teams for resources, land and finally the entire kingdom.
On many different map designs, which always have the same basic structure, you start at zero and work your way forward to gain more and more dominance.
The whole map is 24×24 chunks big, each team starts in one of the four cardinal directions. Everything is set up symmetrically, so no team has advantages or disadvantages depending on the spawn.
After 20 minutes of gameplay, there will be an endgame border, which makes the playfield get smaller and smaller from the outside to the inside – so this mode can’t be dragged to infinity.
The setup of each borderbattle map
The basics
Each team owns a main house, the town hall, which must not be taken by other teams – otherwise your team is out.
This town hall is located in your spawn area, which is automatically owned by you. Visually, the property of a chunk is represented by a border in the four different team colors (red, yellow, green and blue).
There are various resources to mine with your tools to construct and upgrade buildings.
Each team has 16 chunks at the beginning with two food fields, two wood fields and two stone fields. The main resource in Borderbattle is food.
You can only move in these starting chunks – a border separates you and your team from the adjacent chunks around the base.
The other resources (iron, gold and diamonds) and further freedom of movement you have to earn with your team by unlocking and capturing further chunks. Adjacent chunks can be unlocked by giving food – however, with each purchase the price of the next chunk also increases.
Buildings can also be purchased and/or upgraded using various resources. Buildings can only be built in the chunks dominated by your team.
So you see: Playing directly on attack will not work. The way must first be bought free!
That’s the way how buildings can look like in different levels
The buildings
A building needs food to produce at all. If no food is available, the building stands still and no more raw materials are produced there.
Thus, obtaining food should be your first task.
There are a lot of buildings in the game mode Borderbattle. All of them need different resources to be built and the town hall on a certain level.
At the beginning, the forge, farm, lumberjack and quarry are essential to get resources faster at first. A town hall on level 1 is completely sufficient for this. If you want to expand your buildings or build more valuable ones, such as an academy or a gold mine because you have found a gold deposit, the town hall must be expanded first.
In the academy, a lot can be researched – on the one hand regarding resources, on the other hand regarding equipment and enchantments.
With the third level, your town hall is completely developed and opens up numerous new buildings and possibilities to arm yourself against your opponents and for a possible final battle.
But to explain all this would definitely go beyond the scope – and where would be the fun, if you don’t have to find out one or the other trick yourself?
The diamond deposits can only be found in the middle of the map – but until then some chunks have to be claimed. And beware…the other teams might be following the same plan.
