The year 2022 is almost over, we have one last big Foundertest to go and the teams of the PlayLegend network are looking back on a great performance.
To give you a glimpse behind the scenes of PlayLegend, we would like to give the teams the opportunity to review the year.
Look forward to a lot of interesting insider information that you haven’t read before!
When you look back – what are you proud of, what was frustrating?
Builder
Proud of:
- That we keep going despite setbacks
- That we were able to prepare much more than the release content for you
- That we have improved our building skills and learned many new building techniques
- That we were able to welcome many new talented builders to our team
- Every setback has made us stronger
Frustrating:
- That the release was postponed
- That some projects were underestimated
Developer
Proud of:
- the super cool team meeting at Gamescom ( including laser tag)
- the team that goes through thick and thin
- the way of working in the team (solving problems together for hours deep into the night, no matter how long it takes, and not just giving up)
- new people in the team, who have learned a lot in a short time and have really integrated themselves into the team
- a meanwhile very robust and scalable infrastructure (scaled up to 5x during the last founder test)
- the improvement of code quality / robustness / future viability
- many new people on the team, bringing fresh perspectives
- huge performance improvements in game modes like SkyZone
- the last Foundertest, in which there was just massive support from the players
- extreme performance improvement in the last tests
- creating a highly efficient file format that allows us to dynamically load game worlds
- reworking of all UIs, making the game experience even more unique
- general improvement of the project/code base making it easier to create new content
Frustrating:
- postponements of foundertests (no matter if by an hour or a day)
- performance problems during the first tests, because you could just watch and do nothing
- tested every possible edge case before tests and still sometimes many bugs appear
- that some long time team members (from all areas) had to leave the team due to school, studies, etc.
- sudden, more or less forced, change of the build tool
Supporter:
“The year 2022 was a year full of highlights. This year in particular, it was noticeable how far the project can really make it. The hype around PlayLegend is getting bigger and bigger, which is especially apparent in the Founderpack goals achieved and the huge rush on the network during the foundertests. Even though some people may still regret that we delayed the release, we are already convinced that it was worth it! This year has been a year of breaking records and seeing again how well this team can work together. It’s remarkable what’s possible when you pull together and share a vision.”
How do your plans for 2023 look like? What are your hopes and wishes for the release in April?
Builder
- prepare maps for future seasons (build new maps for existing modes and implement concepts for new game modes).
- expansion of the build team
- that the release will be flawless
- that we can meet the expectations of the player community
- that the network is well received
Developer
- more successful tests
- a “fluid” release with as few bugs as possible + support from all players
- fix a lot of bugs and add missing/additional content and QoL updates in different areas to ensure a great gameplay (of course this also applies beyond the release)
- get the whole codebase realease ready
- automate even more tasks to spend more time developing

“In the next year we are looking forward to many more successful founder tests and especially to the release. We are also eagerly awaiting our own anticheat and many more features for in-game support. We plan to expand our support team significantly to ensure the already known support quality even with even higher player numbers. Therefore we call you, if you are at least 18 years old, to apply with us!”
“For the April release, our main wish is a smooth start to the PlayLegend Network adventure. Likewise, we also wish for the launch of the network all, for the support relevant, systems. We want the release of PlayLegend to be legendary and with such a great team and community, that will certainly not be a problem. We are excited to see in which direction our network will develop!”
Now you can give some words to the community out there:
Builder
“Dear Community,
we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Without your support and contribution, it would not have been possible to achieve what we are today. Your ideas, your enthusiasm and your willingness to help us motivated us to become better and better and to make a difference together. We are proud to be part of such a dedicated and passionate construction team and look forward to many more projects together that we can make happen for you!
Thank you for everything!”
Developer
“Thank you for staying loyal to us despite a postponement and the one or other disaster at the Founder Test and for supporting us so fiercely for years and continuing to believe in us even in the face of setbacks.
Look forward to April, it’s going to be awesome!
Thank you for the great understanding and support, even when things didn’t go as they should have. Hardly any flames or anything and just encouraging words for us devs. That’s just extremely motivating!
Thanks for the insane support and the forgiveness of, sometimes bigger, complications! The sales of Founderpacks are skyrocketing, which also shows you that you are on the right track. And last but not least: Thank you for the nice words you can read towards us in Kevin’s chat and hear in the community videos. That is probably one of the biggest motivators!”

“We are impressed by you as a community! Every single one of you makes this project what it is today. You are the reason why we are happy to be able to contribute to this project every day! Without you and your feedback we would never be able to realize this project as planned. We wish you a merry christmas, a wonderful holiday and a happy new year, see you at the next Foundertest.”
Well, nothing more to say!
Have a great fourth advent and thank you for reading!
